The irate South West airlines passenger who screamed at parents of a child who wouldn’t stop crying on a flight last week has been roundly criticised for his behaviour by mum influencers polled by ParentStars.

Here’s what they said:

One way to make a traumatic experience for a child even more stressful. Only in America 🇺🇸 hey!

As a travel agent I’ve seen and heard all sorts of customer complaints over the years. Crying babies seem to trigger lots of people on flights.

I actually have strong opinions on this subject & always have! I think this is disgusting & that man should be ashamed of himself! People like this are the reason I’m put off taking my babies on holiday 😔

Even before I had kids, if there was a baby crying on the flight, yes it may have been annoying but I just thought ‘it’s a couple of hours out of my life, then I can relax on holiday!’ The poor parents would have been filled with anxiety anyway & people like this make it worse. It’s like, yes we know our baby is crying & if we could make it stop we would! But they’re just babies & they don’t understand. People should have more compassion instead if shaming parents ❤️

I think that if he can’t pay for a private jet and has sound sensory issues he should have treat himself to some ear defenders/headphones 🤦‍♀️ Poor parents will have already been terrified about the little one being unsettled and it prob picked up on that.. we’re going away in June and I’m terrified 🤦‍♀️ I’m not really sure there is more they could do aside from maybe having a portion of the plane for families.. people just shouldn’t have the expectations that they are going to have a child free flight or children are going to not make a peep..

I think as an ex flight attendant those passengers need to have more patience and respect, as cabin crew i would have offered to help with the child if i had time let them take a look on the galley and got out anything i could to play with or interest them but i would have also told the shouty passenger to wind their neck in. I’d also advise to fly other than a lowcost carrier next time.

Honestly i had similar once over an autistic child and i was fuming with the lack of respect for that poor family, people pressing call bells asking to move, for headphones, asking what that childs problem is, i said hes autistic, it’s his first flight and show some respect because you know full well those parents arent having the time of their lives either 😝

@sarahsdays.x

Oh that is shocking! He ended up causing more uproar than the baby. I think totally uncalled for I can’t imagine how stressed the parents must have been feeling too.

@mummyadventure

The child also paid for a seat on the flight. Take headphones!
